And main topic climate_v2
Before the world started taking measures to reduce emissions, it
was useful to make calculations about the impact & measures like EVs
and solar panels. In 2012 awareness was quite large, and for the first time
scientists were able to link individual extreme weather events to climate change.
In 2019 there was Greta Thunberg and the million people march around the globe.
There was still some time, but by 2022 everything changed. We were getting so
close to breaking through the Paris 2015 limit of 1.5oC increase, that change needed
was getting too big and too fast. It was too late for a 'reasonable' revolution.
By may 2024 we broke through +1.5oC and lots of governments and companies are
scrapping plans and promises to cut emissions.
.
In this time awareness is not the problem and big calculations are useless. Because … The
world waited too long, made some promises, and that's all. Activism by admin dies here.

Ocean acidification close to critical threshold, say scientists, posing threat to marine ecosystems and global liveability
1. # Ocean acidification # is approaching a critical threshold”, particularly in higher-latitude regions, says the latest report on planetary boundaries. “The growing acidification poses an increasing threat to marine ecosystems.”
Oceans face ‘triple threat’ of extreme heat, oxygen loss and acidification
The report, from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), builds on years of research showing there are nine systems and processes – the planetary boundaries – that contribute to the stability of the planet’s life-support functions.
